Luna de sangre

Directing

During the Latin American creators’ call launched by DocsMX and Bogoshorts, Breves Verdades 2025—which challenged filmmakers to create, in just 10 days, a documentary portraying a truth about their own city—this piece came to life. It explores the relationship between Mexico’s past and present. Using the Blood Moon eclipse as a catalyst, I question my Mexican identity through my own roots, interwoven with those of Ozelotzin, a contemporaneous traditional Aztec music dancer who prays to the Mexica gods through his dance to restore balance between light and darkness.

Amid the chaos of the modern metropolis and the memories of a buried past, the film weaves a reflection on identity, resilience, and the search for one’s place in a world that forgets its origins. In the year marking the 700th anniversary of the founding of Mexico-Tenochtitlan, Luna de Sangre rises as a visual poem that connects the ancestral spirit with the hope of a new future.
